The International Labour Organization hails the ratification by the Russian Federation of the ILO Convention No.182 on the Elimination of the Worst Forms of Child Labour.

The ratification demonstrates great determination of the Russian public and lawmakers to resolve this acute problem. Russia is moving fast, and we welcome this”. Mr. Frans Roselaers, Director of the ILO’s International Programme on the Elimination of Child Labour made this statement in Moscow during the press conference at the State Duma (Parliament).

Mr. Roselaers presented the Russian parliamentarians with the newly printed Russian edition of the Practical Guide to ILO Convention No.182.

The IPEC Director also visited St. Petersburg where the ILO is implementing a 3-year project “Street Children of St. Petersburg”.

In Moscow Mr. Roselaers had meetings with social partners, and with Ms. Svetlana Goryacheva, Chairperson of the State Duma’s Committee on Women, Family and Youth Affairs.
