International Journal of Labour Research: New issue on Sustainable Development

10 February 2011

Geneva,10 february 2011 (ACTRAV INFO)- The Bureau for Workers’ Activities (ACTRAV) will soon be publishing the next issue of its International Journal of Labour Research, devoted to sustainable development. The theme of this issue will be Climate change and labour: the objective of a just transition, and it will be available in the three official ILO languages – English, French and Spanish.

“On this issue, trade unions worldwide have developed a viewpoint that is summed up in the concept of a ‘just transition’. This notion implies, amongst other things, that the process of transition towards a green economy must include the stakeholders, and that the inevitable costs of this transition for employment and our societies must be shared by all.” explains M. Dan Cunniah, Director of ACTRAV

This issue of the Journal follows up on the workshop held by the Global Union Research Network (GURN) in Brussels in March 2010, entitled Climate Change, its Impacts on Employment and Labour Markets. Contributions to the workshop were the starting point for this edition.
