VIENTIANE, Lao People's Democratic Republic (ILO News) – A Training of Trainers (TOT) Programme on Automotive Maintenance has empowered educators with advanced skills crucial for the automotive industry in Lao People's Democratic Republic.
The Training of Trainers (TOT) Programme on Automotive Maintenance, jointly organized by the ILO/China Partnership Programme, Guangxi Industrial Technician College of China, and Champasak Provincial Skills Development Center, took place from 18 to 22 October 2023, in Guangxi, China.
This collaborative effort aimed to enhance the capacity of teachers from Champasak Provincial Skills Development Center, providing them with advanced knowledge in Automotive Maintenance.
The week-long course covered various topics, including inspection and maintenance of batteries, lubrication systems and cooling systems as well as tire removal and wheel balancing. The acquired skills are expected to be applied by the teachers when training their students who are currently enrolled in the Automotive Maintenance course at the center.
“The initiative was made possible through the support of the ILO-China Partnership Programme, facilitating a delegation of 20 representatives. The collaboration exemplifies the commitment of both nations towards fostering skill development and knowledge exchange,” said Keovanlay Phanthavong, the Officer in Charge / Programme Manager of the ILO-China Partnership Programme.
The ILO/China Partnership Programme on Strengthening Skills Development in Cambodia, Lao People's Democratic Republic and Myanmar through South-South and Triangular Cooperation (SSTC) aims to improve the employability of workers and increase productivity of enterprises through better quality of employment services, skills development and institutional capacity building.
