Inter-agency Coordination Council on Elimination of the WFCL meets in Dushanbe

On 10 February 2016, a meeting of the Inter-agency Coordination Council on Elimination of the Worst Forms of Child Labour (WFCL) in Tajikistan was organized by the Ministry of Labour, Employment and Migration. The meeting was chaired by Rajabali Rajabov, head of the Ministry’s Department of social partnership and OSH, Faizizoda Ismoil, deputy chairman of the Federation of Independent Trade Unions of Tajikistan and Azizbek Sharipov, chairman of the Union of Employers of Tajikistan.

The participants reviewed and assessed the overall progress in the implementation of the National Action Plan (NAP) for the elimination of WFCL in Tajikistan for 2015-2020 and the Hazardous Child Labour List.

“The Ministry coordinates the implementation of the NAP for the elimination of WFCL in Tajikistan and will ensure its effective implementation. The Plan was approved by the President and it shows the commitment of the country to fight child labour and its worst forms in the frame of the ratified fundamental ILO Conventions Nos. 138 and 182,” - Rajabali Rajabov.

In 2015 the ILO-IPEC marked ten years of its work in Tajikistan. At the meeting the ILO-IPEC national project coordinator Muhayo Khosabekova presented the main achievements and outcomes of the programme and its plan for the future.

She particularly stressed the role of the elimination of child labour in light of the Sustainable Development Goals for 2030.

Note: The Inter-agency Coordination Council on Elimination of the WFCL of Tajikistan operates in line with the Regulation approved by the Ministry of Labour, Employment and Migration (former Ministry of Labour and Social Protection) in 2012 and its 40 members represent a range of public, non-governmental, international organizations and NGOs dealing with issues of the protection of children’s rights and elimination of child labour.
