ILO to support Nigeria's jobs and skills agenda

Abuja (ILO News) - The ILO Country Director for Nigeria, Ghana, Liberia and Sierra Leone and Liaison Office for ECOWAS, Mr. Dennis Zulu, restated ILO's commitment to support Nigeria in actualising its employment agenda.

In his presentation while paying a courtesy visit on Mr. Dennis Zulu on 18 March 2016, Mr. Imoukhuede, requested the support of the ILO towards the implementation of the government’s jobs and skills agenda.

He emphasized the new government’s commitment towards addressing the serious challenge of youth unemployment that Nigeria was facing. In this regards, the government was in the process of developing a job strategy that would address the demand and supply aspects of employment creation.

Mr. Zulu expressed ILO's renewed commitment during a meeting with Mr. Afolabi Imoukhuede, Senior Special Adviser to the Vice- President on Job creation and Youth Employment and in the presence of Mr Lanre Carew, technical adviser on agriculture and agro allied, Nigeria Economic Summit Group.

Nigeria is looking towards collaborating with the ILO and other development partners to respond to the youth employment crisis.
