ILO Study on Forced Labour Outcomes of Human Trafficking and Irregular Migration in Russia

The seminar was a follow-up activity to the ILO “Information-experience exchanging seminar on Forced labor, trafficking and irregular migration”, which took place in Moscow on 15-16 May 2003.

The main objectives of the Seminar were to present the ILO Study on Forced labour outcomes of human trafficking and irregular migration in Russia (authors team leader Elena Tjurukanova), to familiarize the participants with the ILO studies and other activities on forced labor which are being carried out in origin, transit and destination countries of Europe, and in the USA, and to discuss the current situation in the Russian Federation

Opening statements were made by Pauline Barrett-Reid, ILO Office Director, Prokofiev, Deputy Chief of the Labor Migration Department of the Federal migration Service of the MInistry of Internal Affairs RF, and Roger Plant, Director of the ILO Special Action Programme to Combat Forced Labour.
