ILO Regional Director for Africa to visit DRC and Cameroon
Aeneas Chapinga Chuma, Head of the International Labour Organization (ILO) for Africa, is on a week-long official visit in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and Cameroon to consult with the tripartite constituents and strengthen ILO’s strategic partnerships.

ADDIS ABABA (ILO News) – The ILO Assistant Director-General and Regional Director for Africa, Aeneas Chapinga Chuma arrives in Kinshasa for a four day official mission in the DRC before heading to Cameroon for a similar high profile visit.
From 25-28 February in Kinshasa, Mr Chuma will meet H.E. Augustin Matata Ponyo, Prime Minister of the DRC, Hon Willi Makiashi, Deputy Prime Minister of Employment, Labour and Social Security, H.E. Raymond Tshibanda, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation as well as both Presidents of the National Assembly and the Senate.
The ILO Head for Africa will also discuss with senior representatives of Employers’ and Workers’ organisations of the Central African country. Consultations are also planned with Martin Kobler, Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General for the Democratic Republic of Congo and Head of the peacekeeping mission, MONUSCO.
In Yaoundé, Cameroon, from 1-4 March, Aeneas Chuma is expected to meet Hon Grégoire Owona, Minister of Labour and Social Security as well as several Ministers from key line Ministries (External Relations, Public Works, Employment and Vocational Training, and Urban Development and Housing).
Key briefings have also been scheduled with workers’ and employers’’ organisations of Cameroon as well as a visit to the African Regional Labour Administration Centre (CRADAT).
Aeneas Chapinga Chuma of Zimbabwe was sworn in as ADG/RD for Africa in March 2014 to oversee a continental program promoting employment (particularly for youth), social protection, labour migration governance and support to Fragile States.
