ILO Regional Director for Africa on official visit to Uganda

KAMPALA (ILO News) – The ILO Regional Director for Africa, Aeneas Chapinga Chuma, is to embark on a 48 hours tripartite consultation with high level officials and social partners of Uganda to discuss ways of strengthening existing collaborations and partnerships.

Scheduled meetings include interactive sessions with the Minister of Gender, Labour and Social Development, the Secretary-General of the National Organization of Trade Unions (NOTU) as well as the Secretary-General of the Central Organization of Free Trade Unions (COFTU), and the Executive Director of the Federation of Uganda Employers.

visit will also include a field trip to a young entrepreneurship project that benefitted from ILO support under the Skills Development Project. Mr Chuma will be able to assess first-hand how the ILO-supported project contributed to the socio-economic transformation of the community.

International Labour Organization (ILO) has a number of projects in Uganda related to combatting the worst forms of child labour and the prevention and reintegration of children involved in armed conflict.
