ILO reaffirms its commitment to supporting labour market development, job creation, and skills development in Yemen

Sanaa (ILO News) – On 3rd July 2022, the ILO Deputy Regional Director for Arab States, Mr Peter Rademaker, and Mr Oktavianto Pasaribu, Chief, Regional Programming Services met in Sana’a – Yemen with His Excellency, Mr. Ahmed Ishaq, Director of Yemen's Central Statistical Organization (CSO), and discussed topics of mutual interest, potential areas of future collaboration, particularly regarding updating data on the labour force.


These discussions were an opportunity for the delegation to hear first-hand about the challenges, opportunities, concerns, and needs of the business community and the Yemen private sector. The delegation affirmed the strong partnership with the FYCCI as the voice of business and reaffirmed the ILO's commitment to continue working with Yemen's various institutions to support the labour market, job creation, and skills development.

On 4th July, the ILO team also spoke with David Gressly, the UN Resident Coordinator, and other senior UN officials to explore opportunities for joint programs, discuss ways to strengthen collaborative efforts, and assess how the ILO, as a technical agency and niche player, can best support Yemen.
