ILO in partnership with the Federation for Egyptian Industries (FEI) promotes Gender Responsive Corporate Social Responsibility in Egypt.
The ILO's Bureau for Employers' Activities (ACT/EMP) has been supporting the FEI, through its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Unit, to raise awareness of CSR among Egyptian companies.

In partnership with the Federation for Egyptian Industries (FEI), the ILO promoted Gender Responsive Corporate Social Responsibility in Cairo and Alexandria in January and February 2022 respectively.
To date 43 professionals from over 25 companies from greater Cairo and greater Alexandria benefitted from this training. The Cairo cycle, trained 19 participants, of which 17 women, from companies of different sizes, whereas in Alexandria 24 participants, of which 12 women, were trained. The training also included presentations from Egyptian companies showcasing their success stories, highlighting that achievements can be attained by Egyptian companies of various sizes, deflecting the view that CSR is exclusively dominated by large multinational companies.
Participants expressed their gratitude as the training helped them understand both the concepts of corporate social responsibility as well as the concept of gender equality and how they can link these two with each other. They also realized that some of the activities they were already undertaking, can be considered corporate social responsibility. They shared their experiences in addressing and overcoming some of the enterprise level challenges as well as some legislative challenges they face on gender equality.
The support to the CSR is just one of the activities the ILO supports the FEI with and is testimony of the strong partnership between both institutions. This support to the FEI is provided through a cooperation of the ILO’s development cooperation programs “Promoting Gender-Responsive Workplaces in Egypt” funded by the Royal Netherland Government. The Federation of Egyptian Industries - Egypt’s employers’ organization - represents 20 industrial chambers and 102,000 industrial enterprises, accounting for more than two million workers and 18% of the national economy.
