ILO mourns death of Minister of State for Labour and Employment in Nigeria
James Enojo Ocholi, Senior Advocate of Nigeria and Minister of State, Federal Ministry of Labour and Employment, died on Sunday, 6 March 2016 at the age of 55.

ABUJA (ILO News) – ILO Director for Abuja Country Office, Dennis Zulu, expressed his deep sorrow over the death of the Honourable Minister of State, Federal Ministry of Labour and Employment, James Enojo Ocholi, his wife, Mrs Blessing Ocholi and their son, Mr. Joshua Ocholi in a tragic accident last Sunday in Abuja.
Mr Zulu extended his condolences to the Government, the Ministry of Labour and Employment and the family.
“On behalf of the Director-General and the Regional Director and indeed on my own behalf, I wish the family of Honourable Ocholi our deepest condolences on the loss of a loved one and a dedicated leader of Nigeria. May his soul rest in peace”, he said signing the Condolence Register on behalf of the UN agency operating in Nigeria since 1959.
Prior to signing the register, Mr Zulu paid a courtesy call on the Ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Dr Clement Illoh to express the ILO’s sympathies with the Ministry and the family of the deceased Minister.
A lawyer by profession, Barrister Ocholi was appointed Minister of State, Federal Ministry of Labour and Employment in November 2015.
