ILO to launch new report on employment and HIV/AIDS treatment

GENEVA – The International Labour Organization (ILO) will launch a new report – The Impact of Employment on HIV Treatment Adherence – on Thursday 28 November 2013.
The report provides new insights into the correlation between employment and successful anti-retroviral therapy, through an analysis of studies covering over 6,500 people living with HIV and a series of surveys and interviews.
Findings encompass several regions including Africa, Asia and North America and the report provides new recommendations on improving access and adherence to HIV/AIDS treatment.
The launch comes ahead of World AIDS Day on December 1 and forms part of the ILO’s Getting to Zero at Work campaign, which highlights the central role of the world of work to the HIV response.
The report and accompanying media material will be made available under embargo on Wednesday 27 November for reporting after 22:01 GMT on 27 November 2013.
