ILO joins other UN agencies in Belize to deliver training for prevention of sexual exploitation, abuse and sexual harassment
Participants included representatives from Belize Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the National Trade Union Congress of Belize.

As a member of the Belize United Nations Country Team (UNCT), the International Labour Organization (ILO) was among the agencies that facilitated a recent Protection from Sexual Exploitation, Abuse and Sexual Harassment (PSEAH) Training for Civil Society Organizations (CSOs).
Held on 26 April 2023 in Belize City, the practical training featured an approved workplan to set the stage for ensuring adequate safeguards and appropriate action related to sexual exploitation and abuse (SEA) are transferred and as agreed with CSO Implementing Partners to conduct joint training in this area.
Beneficiaries of the training included representatives from Belize Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the National Trade Union Congress of Belize.
ILO Convention 190 (C190) on Violence and Harassment was a key component of the training and was featured as a legal instrument to ensure that everyone has a right to a world of work free from violence and harassment, including gender-based violence and harassment.
“The ILO is firmly committed to preventing and addressing sexual exploitation and abuse to ensure that everyone has access to a safe working environment and therefore joined the United Nations Country Team initiative in imparting this PSEAH Training for all partner CSOs including our constituents,” explained Ms. Pamela Bradley, ILO National Project Coordinator in Belize.
The wider UN System in Belize worked together and with the coordination support of UN Resident Coordinator Office (UNRCO) to organize and convene this joint training with a shared obligation to implement the UN protocol “Special measures for protection from sexual exploitation and sexual abuse” in Belize.
The objectives of the training were:
