ILO joins national dialogue on new Palestinian labour strategy

Ramallah, The Occupied Palestinian Territory (ILO News)- The International Labour Organization took part in a national workshop convened by the Palestinian Ministry of Labour to discuss its draft Strategic Plan for 2025–2027. The event brought together representatives of employers, workers, and relevant ministries, institutions and organizations.
Held in Ramallah, the workshop aimed to gather feedback from all stakeholders ahead of the strategy’s finalisation and submission to the Palestinian Cabinet for approval. Minister of Labour Enas Attari affirmed that the strategy seeks to mobilise all partners to develop practical short- and long-term solutions to tackle soaring unemployment, which has exceeded 52 percent.
Key pillars of the strategy include enhancing employment services and opportunities, strengthening skills development, promoting decent work, institutionalising social dialogue and social protection, and advancing innovation and entrepreneurship. Planned interventions include legislative reforms to improve social protection, the establishment of a national labour market information system, digitisation of vocational training and employment services, and the launch of the "Compass" platform to guide employment service providers.
ILO Representative to Jerusalem Dan Cork reiterated the ILO’s support for the Ministry’s efforts and its readiness to provide technical assistance to ensure the development of the strategy in line with international labour standards, and its effective implementation.
