ILO at the heart of the Global Labour University in South Africa
The GLU seminar series organized by the University of the Witwatersrand (WITS) in South Africa highlighted the mandate and work of the International Labour Organisation (ILO) worldwide
This new series of seminar which focussed on “the ILO’s Work Globally” was intended to introduce postgraduate students to the specific mandate, objectives and activities of the ILO in the world of work.
Inviolata Chinyangarara, ILO Senior Specialist in Workers’ Activities, presented the ILO mandate within an evolving global, political and socio-economic environment.
This interactive platform was designed to create a dialogue on ILO’s mandate, development and results and to explore possibilities for future research collaboration.
The Global Labour University seminar was attended by postgraduate students from Africa as well as academicians, experts and representatives of the tripartite constituents of South Africa.
The Global Labour University (GLU) is a network of trade unions, universities and the ILO (International Labour Organisation) to deliver high-level qualification programmes.
