ILO Director-General on official visit in Tunisia
The ILO Director-General, Guy Ryder, will be on an official visit in Tunisia from 28 to 29 March 2016 to meet senior officials of the country and attend the opening of the National Dialogue on employment.
ALGIERS/TUNIS (ILO News) – The Director General of the International Labour Organization (ILO), Guy Ryder, will visit Tunis on 28 and 29 March 2016 for direct talks with the tripartite constituents and to take part in the national dialogue on employment in Tunisia.
During this visit, Mr Ryder is to meet the President of the Republic of Tunisia, H.E. Mr Beji Caid Essebsi and the Head of the Government Mr Habib Essid. Ryder should also participate in a key meeting with the Committee of the Social Contract, together with the Minister of Social Affairs, Mahmoud Ben Romdhane; the Minister of Vocational Training and Employment, Zied Ladhari; the President of the Tunisian Union of Industry, Commerce and Handicrafts, Mrs Wided Bouchamaoui; and the Secretary General of the Tunisian General Union of Labour, Houcine Abassi.
On Tuesday, 29 March, Guy Ryder will take part in the opening of the National Dialogue on employment, which should also welcome the Secretary General of the United Nations, Mr Ban Ki-Moon. This dialogue will be devoted to the presentation of the results and proposals made by nine commissions which met during preparatory meetings held on 15, 16 and 17 March 2016.
The ILO chief will also hold talks with Mohamed Ennasser, Speaker of the House of People's Representatives, before making a solemn visit to the Bardo national museum of Tunis.
