ILO conducts regional training for Data Managers on SDMX and data management in support of the Labour Market Information System (LMIS)
A series of workshops were conducted in the region to equip CARICOM National Data Managers with the data handling and system management knowledge of the .Stat Suite.

In keeping with the June 2016 Memorandum of Understanding between the ILO and the Caribbean Community (CARICOM), a group of technical officers from the ILO’s Department of Statistics and the ILO Decent Work Team and Office for the Caribbean has been working closely with the CARICOM Single Market and Economy (CSME) Unit since April 2022 to revamp and re-establish a regional Labour Market Information System (LMIS).
Significant advances have been made towards this objective. In August 2022, a demo instance of .Stat Suite (LMIS hosting platform) was prepared on the cloud – an environment ready for the production deployment. A series of training workshops were also planned to equip CARICOM National Data Managers with the data handling and system management knowledge of the platform.
On 27 and 29 September 2022, the first training workshop was conducted virtually on the production of data which served to review the different types of data that would be produced for uploading.
The second training exercise “LMIS Data Management Workshop” was hosted physically from 4-5 October 2022 in Barbados. While the technical guidance for generating and manipulating the data and uploading them on the LMI System was given, participants were able to practice during hands-on exercises with both microdata and aggregated data examples.
“Both events were highly successful, and participants have indicated their satisfaction with both of the workshops’ content and the delivery styles of the facilitators”, stated Mr L. Titus Preville, Programme Manager of CSME. The support provided by the ILO in facilitating both workshops was acknowledged by the CARICOM Secretariat.
