ILO communicates condolences and support to Türkiye

Mr. Gilbert Houngbo, Director-General of the International Labour Organization (ILO), wrote a letter to the Turkish President Erdoğan expressing his condolences on the mining tragedy at Bartın, and expressed solidarity with the Turkish people and workers.

Mr. Houngbo also noted that Türkiye ratified in 2015 the Safety and Health in Mines Convention, 1995 (No. 176), and communicated that ILO stood ready to provide support to implement the requests and observations of the ILO Committee of Experts concerning the improvement of occupational safety and health conditions at mines and implementation of the said Convention.
