ILO Cairo endows special prize for mobile films
ILO Cairo Office announces a special prize for short films shot only by mobile phones.

Cairo (ILO News)- The International Labour Organization Cairo Office partnered with Shasha Mobile Film Festival to award a Special Prize acknowledging short films shot only by mobile phones.
Shasha Mobile Film Festival creates space for young talents to express new voices from outside of the filmmaking industry. Since it was launched last month, the festival received more than 1500 film submissions from more than 90 countries worldwide, which is a record for the Festival’s first edition. The number of submissions reflects the diversity and the potentiation of mobile cinema form.
Shasha is a fully digital festival accompanied with an on-ground screenings and awards festivities in el Gouna, from the 25th to the 31st October 2020.
In addition, a mobile storytelling workshop was organized by Shasha with the main aim to provide intensive experiences that equips young creators with a skillset to understand the story they want to tell, structure and specify visual decisions.
From his side, Mr. Eric Oechslin, ILO Cairo Director explained that the ILO will announce the winner during the closing ceremony of the Festival that will take place on October 31st at El-Gouna. He added “We are delighted to have this partnership which enables us to share our belief in arts as the soft power of the world and promotes its role as a vehicle for strengthening their communities”.
