Addis Ababa - ILO will commemorate its centenary celebration by partnering with the African Union Commission (AUC) to organize a ministerial side event on the “Future of Work, Advancing Social Justice, Promoting Decent Work”. This side event is part of the 3rd AU Specialised Technical Committee on Social Development, Labour and Employment that is taking place in Addis Ababa from April 1-5 2019 under the theme “Poverty Eradication through Strategic Investments at National and Regional Levels towards Social Development, Labour and Employment in Africa”.
The ministerial panel will discuss the key challenges facing the world of work in Africa and make practical recommendations about how these may be addressed in the future. The report on the Future of Work was launched on 22nd January, 2019 in Geneva marking the official start of the ILO’s Centenary year.

The formation of an ILO Global Commission on the Future of Work marks the second stage in the ILO Future of Work Initiative. Its job is to undertake an in-depth examination of the future of work that can provide the analytical basis for the delivery of social justice in the 21st century.
