ILO to assist the Saint Lucia Employers’ Federation in developing membership strategy
The action plan will focus on the three primary areas: good governance, membership promotion and retention, and advocacy and lobbying.

The Saint Lucia Employers’ Federation (SLEF), with the support of the ILO/ACTEMP, will develop a membership strategy to deepen engagement with existing members and expand its membership.
During her first visit to the Federation, 3-5 August 2022, Senior Specialist, Employers' Activities, ILO DWT and Office for the Caribbean, Ms. Maria Victoria Giulietti, met with the management and staff to discuss strategic and innovative approaches for organizational development and membership engagement. The action plan will focus on the three primary areas: good governance, membership promotion and retention, and advocacy and lobbying.
During the discussions on the issues and challenges facing the Federation, the Executive Board expressed their appreciation for the continued work done by the ILO and the importance of the development of a membership strategy to respond to the changing organizational needs and improve its functioning and resilience in the context of recovery for the future. Mr. Callistus Vern Gill, President, SLEF noted that "the pandemic had accelerated digitalization trends shedding light on the critical need to digitize core services for the Federation". He also stressed concern on the direct impact on engagement and affiliation due the COVID-19 crisis which further reinforced the importance of the development of an action plan for membership strategy, engagement and expansion.
Concerning the digital transformation, the Federation will participate in the Subregional Research on Digitalization to support the transformation of Employer and Business Membership Organizations (EBMOs) as data-driven organizations in the Caribbean.
In addition to the implementation and installation of the CRM, this research is one more action that the SLEF is carrying out in its digitalization process. The research will:

- collect baseline data to support its transformation into a data-driven organization;
- document how digitalization is occurring in the Federation to understand its challenges in becoming a more digital organization; and
- assess organizational transformation readiness for digital data-driven change by analysing mindsets, practices, and resources to understand where the Federation is in its journey.
