ILO and tripartite partners identifies key areas of collaboration for the future of social security in China

BEIJING (ILO News) - To support the tripartite dialogue towards the definition of the main priority areas requiring ILO technical support to improve the performance of the social security system in the People’s Republic of China in the coming 3 to 5 years, ILO organized a Tripartite Technical Meeting on the Future of Social Security in China on 29 November 2023 in Beijing, China.

During the meeting, Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security (MOHRSS), All-China Federation of Trade Unions (ACFTU) and China Enterprise Confederation (CEC) were invited to present what each institution considers to be, in their institutional view, their three main priorities regarding reforms required in China for building a universal, adequate and sustainable social protection system. Several common priority areas were identified, which will guide the ILO to develop target interventions in collaboration with its tripartite partners in the following years.

The tripartite meeting was convened by ILO in the context of the EU-China Project “Improving China’s institutional capacity towards universal social protection (Phase 2)”, which is sponsored by the European Union.
