ILO and Ton Duc Thang University sign collaboration acknowledgement

HCM CITY (ILO News) – Leaders of the ILO in Viet Nam and HCM City-based Ton Duc Thang University have signed a Letter of Intent to strengthen the bilateral collaboration for the period of 2015-2016 today (24 April).

ILO Viet Nam Director, Gyorgy Sziraczki and the University Rector, Le Vinh Danh, agreed to join hands in several areas:

• Research activities: The ILO aims to provide opportunities for the university to interact with ILO experts to promote decent work for all.
• Technical support: The ILO will assist relevant university faculties to learn of international and regional good practices on decent work, with a focus on industrial relations and communications between employers and workers.
• Information sharing: The ILO will grant the Faculty of Labour Relations and Trade Union and other relevant faculties access to the ILO Viet Nam Country Office reference materials such as working papers, study reports and publications to support their academic work.

The ILO will also provide internship support for senior students, giving them opportunities to work in an international environment and nurturing young talents.

Established in 1997, Ton Duc Thang University has steadily developed into one of the largest and fastest growing universities in Viet Nam. The school offers four articulated levels: vocational, college, university undergraduate and graduate with 13 faculties in sciences, technologies, business, humanities and arts and is the only higher education institution in Viet Nam offering courses in labour relations, mediation and conflict resolution. The total number of students is now up to 24,000.
