ILO and SESRIC signed MoU in Paris to boost cooperation

The International Labour Organization (ILO) and the Statistical, Economic and Social Research and Training Centre for Islamic Countries (SESRIC) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on 29 Sept 2016 in Paris to enhance collaboration on labour statistics between the two organizations.

The areas of cooperation will focus on development of skills enrichment programmes on labour statistics with an emphasis on employment and unemployment; average earnings and hours of work; labour cost; occupational injuries and occupational diseases; economically active population; consumer price indices; household expenditure; and industrial disputes.

The MoU anticipates a series of activities including organization of workshops, exchange of information, and facilitation of the collection of labour data from the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) member countries.

The MoU was signed by Rafael Diez de Medina, Director of Department Statistics of ILO and Ambassador Musa Kulaklıkaya, Director General of SESRIC.

SESRIC is a subsidiary organ of the Organization of OIC to collate, process and disseminate socio-economic statistics and information on and for the utilization of the member countries as well as study and evaluate the economic and social developments in the member countries to help generate proposals that will initiate and enhance co-operation among them.
