ILO and Eni reinforce joint commitment to workers' health and well-being in agri-business
Endorsing the intervention model and discussing future plans to improve workers' health, safety and social protection in the agri-business sector, the ILO and Eni reaffirmed their strong partnership during a steering committee meeting in Rome.

ROME (ILO News) – The ILO-Eni Global Steering Committee met at Eni’s premises in Rome to review progress and set future directions for the joint project, “Improving occupational safety and health (OSH) and access to social health protection for workers in the agri-business sector.” The event highlighted the strong and ongoing collaboration between the International Labour Organization (ILO) and the Italian energy company Eni S.p.A, focused on promoting decent work in bio-fuel supply chains through an integrated approach to improving workers’ health and well-being.
The agenda featured a welcome from Eni, project updates in Kenya and Côte d’Ivoire where the project is currently implemented, discussions on extending the project to new countries, and plans for upcoming events and communications—highlighting the strategic direction and continued momentum of the partnership. Both Mr Ciarrocchi, CCUS, Forestry and Agro-Feedstock Director and Mr Uberti, Head of Health from Eni, and Ms Schmitt, Deputy Director of the Social Protection Department and Mr Pintado Nunes, Chief of the Occupational Safety and Health and Working Environment Branch from the ILO, shared “[how pleased they are] with the progress so far” and emphasized “the effectiveness of the partnership in driving meaningful impact on the life of workers and their families”.
The initiative is part of the Global ILO flagship programmes Safety + Health for All, which aims to improve the safety and health of workers worldwide, and Social Protection Floors for All, which supports the implementation of social protection systems.
