BRUSSELS (ILO News) - Enabel, the Belgian development agency, and the ILO have signed a project which aims to promote social dialogue and safety and health at work in Morocco. It is the first project signed under the ILO-Enabel comprehensive agreement. This agreement is part of the Bilateral cooperation programme between Belgium and Morocco for the period 2024-2028, and is an important step in the partnership between the two countries.
The two-year DIASSOSEC project aims to consolidate workers’ rights and protect their fundamental rights at work. The ILO and Enabel will implement it in close collaboration with the government, workers’ and employers’ organizations in Morocco.
The project is based on the further institutionalization of tripartite social dialogue and collective bargaining in Morocco, by taking better account of data and evidence. It also aims to strengthen the strategic capabilities of the labour inspectorate, and create a safer and more equitable work environment, by improving regulatory compliance.
It aligns with Morocco’s national priorities, including those defined by the New Development Model (NMD), and builds on the ILO's ongoing support for strengthening and institutionalizing social dialogue and collective conventions in the country.
