ILO and Eastern and Central Africa Social and Security Association join forces to promote social security in Kenya
The International Labour Organization and the East and Central Africa Social and Security Association (ECASSA) announced an agreement that will see the two Organizations deepen their cooperation to extend and promote social security and to maintain the long-standing technical collaboration.

NAIROBI (ILO News) - The Memorandum of Understanding, Signed by International Labour Organization Regional Director for Africa Mr. Aeneas C. Chuma and ECASSA council member Mr. Maurice Amahwa on behalf of the ECASSA chairperson, demonstrates the common holistic interest of both Organizations in Improving the quality and consistency of Social Security coverage.
The International Labour Organization and the East and Central Africa Social and Security Association announced an agreement that will see the two Organizations deepen their cooperation to extend and promote social security and to maintain the long-standing technical collaboration with country members of ECASSA and ILO.
The International labour organization is a specialized agency of the United Nations committed to the attainment of social justice, including through enhancing social protection. Its unique tripartite structure brings together representatives of government, employers and workers to jointly shape policies and programmes promoting social protection for all.
The East and Central Africa Social Security Association is a non-profit Organization headquartered in Nairobi, Kenya, is the principal regional institution bringing together social security agencies to foster cooperation and the promotion of the development and management of social security for optimal stakeholder benefit.
The Memorandum of Understanding between ILO and ECASSA will focus on four main areas:
