ILO’s rural road programme in Timor-Leste is featured by European Union
The works of ILO’s rural roads development programme in Timor-Leste called Enhancing Rural Access (ERA), funded by the European Union, has been featured in the new inspiring video on European Union – Timor-Leste Cooperation.

The works of ILO’s rural roads development programme in Timor-Leste called Enhancing Rural Access (ERA), funded by the European Union, has been featured in the new inspiring video on European Union – Timor-Leste Cooperation. The video captures various European Union programmes across Timor-Leste as part of the effort to create a better life for the Timorese people. The video will be submitted to a video competition on European Union development cooperation around the world.
To date, ERA has built 140 km of high-quality rural roads in six rural districts of Timor-Leste, replacing pot-holed and land side prone dirt tracks that were very difficult to use. In addition, since 2011, the programme has provided work for 8,000 people from rural communities. It has also trained more than 500 company directors in how to develop well-priced contract bids, make financial plans, and employ and train community labour.
