ILO’s new project will enforce decent work for all through sound, inclusive and efficient labour inspection systems
ILO continues to invest in creating decent work environment for all, with a new project on “Workplace Compliance through Labour Inspection Guidance and Social Dialogue” (WPC) financed by the European Union Instrument for Pre-Accession Assistance (IPA III). ILO will share its international technical expertise to support Directorate of Guidance and Inspection to increase their capacity to create a more decent environment for all women and men.

The new project started in March 2023 and will be implemented in close cooperation with the Ministry of Labour and Social Security Directorate of Guidance and Inspection (DoGI) for 36 months. Through the project, social dialogue will facilitate developing labour-related policies, modernizing labour inspection systems and raising awareness on decent work.
Labour administration and inspection, plays a crucial role in protecting workers, supporting the implementation of International Labour Standards and creating enabling environment conditions for decent job creation and sustainable enterprises. In Türkiye, DoGI has a critical role in contributing to labour peace by acting as a bridge between social partners (trade unions and employer organizations) in terms of both working conditions and working environment.
In this regard, the project will improve the effectiveness of the DoGI through a multi-pronged approach. It will also increase the technical capacities of social partners and relevant institutions along with DoGI on International Labour Standards, EU Acquis and national labour legislation with an equality and rights-based approach. All related parties: institutions, social partners-trade unions, employer organizations-, the private sector and the general public will be actively involved through several activities, thus they will be more aware on workplace compliance, and strengthen their power in the transforming world of work for ensuring decent work for all.
The first meeting of the project was held on 25 April 2023 in Ankara. The ILO team, headed by the Director OIC, Giovanni Di Cola, visited Yaşar Ata, Head of DoGI to share their priorities to further strengthen their close collaboration within the project as well as to discuss further opportunities of cooperation.
