GENEVA (ILO News) – The International Labour Organization (ILO) will hold its annual International Labour Conference (ILC) in Geneva from June 5-16, 2017.
Worker, employer and government delegates from the ILO's 187 member States will tackle a wide range of issues, including:
Labour migration and the challenge of governance;
Fundamental principles and rights at work via the recurrent discussion in follow up to the Social Justice Declaration;
Occupational safety and health, through the general survey concerning the promotional framework, construction, mines and agriculture;
For Geneva-based correspondents already accredited to the UN:
Accreditation
The ILO no longer requires a specific ILC press badge for journalists accredited by UNIS to access the Palais premises of the Conference that are open to the press. They will be allowed into the press gallery of the Assembly hall on 6th floor by presenting their UN press badge showing a valid date, including during visits of high-level guests.
To access the ILO building, UNOG-accredited journalists should announce themselves ahead of their visit via the ILO Department of Communication (DCOMM). Access to the Conference Committee on the Application of Standards is not possible without being accompanied by a DCOMM staff member.
Room access
Access to all ILC meeting rooms at the ILO and at the Palais (including the main floor of the Assembly Hall) is not allowed even outside high-level visits unless accompanied by a staff member from DCOMM.
High-level visits
A specific badge will still be required for those journalists (especially photographers and videographers) wishing to access the main floor of the Assembly Hall during high-level visits. Badges can be requested in advance for each session by contacting DCOMM, as in previous years ([email protected])
Access to the ILO Building
Since the ILO will no longer deliver a specific press badge to UNOG-accredited journalists for the ILC 2017, in order to access the ILO headquarters during the Conference, UNOG journalists should go to the R2 North reception area as they normally would when visiting the ILO premises, where they will be given a visitor’s badge in exchange for a valid ID (for example, a driver's license). The UNOG press badge must be worn visibly at all times while working on the premises of the ILO. For more information, please contact ILO press officers or [email protected]
For all other correspondents:
Accreditation
Journalists should collect their badges upon their arrival at the Accreditation Pavilion located at the entrance to the main building of the ILO, 4 route des Morillons (NOT at the Palais des Nations). Journalists who have not registered in advance should present a valid identity card or passport (with photo), a valid professional press card and a letter of assignment from the Editor-in-Chief of the media concerned. The badges also give access to a specific shuttle bus for visitors and media which runs between the ILO building (R2 North – parking P1) and the Pregny Gate at the Palais des Nations.
Journalists wishing to bring in photo or video equipment to the Palais des Nations or the ILO should inform DCOMM in advance and be prepared to pass through a security check point at the Palais des Nations with their equipment.
To obtain accreditation for the conference, and in order to speed up the entry process, correspondents should complete an Accreditation form to be sent together with copy of an identity card or passport, copy of a valid professional press card and a letter of assignment from the Editor-in-Chief of the media concerned either by email ([email protected]), fax (+4122/799-8577) or by post addressed to ILO, Department of Communication and Public Information, 4 route des Morillons, 1211 Geneva 22, Switzerland) as early as possible.
Room access
During plenaries, the ILC badge gives access to the press gallery on the 6th floor of the Assembly Hall.
Video journalists and photographers who want to film on the floor of the Assembly Hall should make a request to the press office for specifying the time and date they wish to have enter. Please note that for security reasons, filming on the plenary floor is limited and requires a DCOMM staff member to be present.
