GENEVA (ILO News) The annual Conference of the International Labour Organization (ILO) concluded its 101st session with a call from Aung San Suu Kyi for help in boosting democracy in her country.
Her address came after the International Labour Conference lifted restrictions on the full participation of Myanmar in its activities and decided to review the progress on the elimination of forced labour in the country next year.
Other special guests addressing the Conference included the Presidents of Costa Rica, Italy, Panama, Peru, Tunisia and Zambia, the Founder and Executive Chairman of the World Economic Forum and the Prince of Spain.
Heads of State and Government and more than 4,000 participants representing governments, employers and workers from the ILO’s 185 Member States gave strong support to the ILO Decent Work Agenda and a stronger role of the Organization in the international system.
