Guinea-Bissau ratifies the Maritime Labour Convention
Guinea Bissau is the 108th Member State of the ILO to have ratified the Convention.

GENEVA (ILO News) - On 10 June 2024, the International Labour Office (ILO) received the instrument of ratification of the Maritime Labour Convention, 2006, as amended (MLC, 2006), by Guinea-Bissau. This ratification represents a significant contribution towards the universal application of the Convention.
The MLC, 2006, an innovative and comprehensive instrument often known as “the seafarers’ bill of rights”, is the fourth pillar of the international regulatory regime for the maritime sector, alongside three Conventions of the International Maritime Organization (IMO), namely the International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS), the International Convention for the Prevention of Pollution from Ships (MARPOL) and the International Convention on Standards of Training, Certification and Watch-keeping (STCW).
The MLC, 2006 will enter into force for Guinea-Bissau on 10 June 2025, that is one year after its ratification. For further information, please visit the MLC, 2006 webpage.
