Georgian labour authorities visit the European Labour Authority

The Georgian delegation included Chief Labour Inspector of Georgia, Head of the State Employment Support Agency, representative of the Ministry of Internally Displaced Persons from the occupied territories, Labour, Health and Social Affairs of Georgia7 They met with the Executive Director of ELA, Cosmin Boiangiu, as well as with other ELA’s representatives.

ELA officials presented the agency’s structure, governance, and mediation role, as well as the European Union (EU) Member States involvement, goals, and future plans. They also spoke about strategic planning, data management, and analysis for effective enforcement of labour norms; labour migration control; needs and opportunities for qualification raising and professional development for labour inspectors; mandate, challenges and future plans of agencies in the labour market supply-demand chain.

“The information received at the meeting and the established contacts will contribute to supporting decent working conditions in Georgia on the path to European integration”, said Beka Peradze, Chief Labour Inspector of Georgia.

Nino Veltauri, Head of the State Employment Support Agency is satisfied with the results of the vsit: "For me, as the head of the State Employment Support Agency, the study visit was very informative and useful. We received information about EU labour and employment policies and the tools used to ensure successful employment and decent work for jobseekers in the EU countries" – Ms..
