Fifteen new trainers on My.Coop were trained and 36 coffee cooperatives in Chiapas, Mexico benefited from My.Coop training

From 2018 to 2019, the ILO carried out a project on the social and economic recovery of communities in the State of Chiapas, México that have been affected by the 2017 earthquake. Within the framework of this project, 80 persons were trained and 60 persons were certified as trainers on ILO methodologies including My.Coop – Managing your agricultural cooperative. Women and men who had difficulties in re-entering the labour market were trained to start or improve their businesses or strengthen their businesses through cooperatives.

My.Coop training of trainers was carried out between April and August 2019. Fifteen trainers from the Autonomous University of Chiapas (UNACH) and the Secretariat and the National Institute of Coffee in Chiapas (INCAFECH) were certified. UNACH has then implemented My.Coop training with 36 cooperatives.

The methodologies have received good feedback from participants including on their accessibility to understand and apply, agility, and good coverage of key business aspects. There is continued interest from UNACH and INCAFECH to continue working with and institutionalizing the methodologies.
