Federation of Egyptian Industries delegation visits ILO headquarters

A high level delegation of the Federation of Egyptian Industries met with the ILO Director General, Guy Ryder in Geneva.

Cairo (ILO News)- A high level delegation of the Federation of Egyptian Industries (FEI) led by Eng. Mohamed El- Sewedy, Head of the FEI, made their first visit to the ILO headquarters in Geneva on Friday, 29th May, 2015. The delegation met the ILO- Director General, Guy Ryder in the presence of Peter Van Rooij, ILO Decent Work Team Director for North Africa and Cairo Office. They discussed recent developments in the Egyptian economy and its positive repercussions on the unemployment rates, economic growth and social indicators during the last 18 months.

The FEI leaders explained the reforms undertaken by the current FEI Board to modernize the Federation to match with international standards of the employers’ organizations, which include: the development of an internal and an external communication strategy, the preparation of the Enabling Environment for Sustainable Enterprises strategy which will help the FEI to identify key constraints to business and presenting government with empirically sound propositions for policy or regulatory change, and the establishment of three new units on: Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), supporting women economically and on labour affairs.

The FEI delegation expressed their willingness to increase the level of cooperation with the ILO and to receive more technical assistance.
