Exhibition of ILO Publications Opened in the State Duma.

An exhibition of the ILO publications on Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) was opened on 22 April in the State Duma. It was initiated jointly by the ILO Subregional Office for Eastern Europe and Central Asia, the Committee on Labour and Social Affairs and the Library of the State Duma. The exhibition is part of the campaign to mark the World Day for Safety and Health at Work (28 April). The central theme for this year is “Promoting Safety and Health Culture in a Globalized World”.

Two information stands – in front of the plenary sessions hall and in the library premises – present dozens of the ILO publications. Among them are the recently published 4-volume OSH Encylopedia and the ILO Guidelines, ILO-OSH 2001 – to name only two.

In his statement at the exhibition launch, Andrei Selivanov, Chairman of the Labour and Social Affairs Committee, noted the significance of the ILO publications for the parliamentarians in the law-drafting process.

Pauline Barrett-Reid, Director of the ILO Subregional Office, said that it is vitally important to ensure work safety in all countries of the world. Decent work is safe work, she said.

After the exhibition all ILO publications will be passed as a contribution to the State Duma library.
