Event: Decent Work in Global Supply Chains

The event explored challenges and opportunities regarding responsible business conduct and decent work in global supply chains.

During the half-day event, the International Labour Organization (ILO) also launched a new report that synthesizes the results from the EU-funded ‘Sustainable supply chains to build forward better’ project, which uses supply chains as an entry-point for advancing decent work in five supply chains.

In three breakout sessions, participants will zoomed in on decent work in three specific sectors:

• Advancing decent work in the agrifood sector through social dialogue, with a focus on the coffee supply chain
• Fostering social dialogue and stakeholder engagement to advance decent work in the electronics supply chain in Viet Nam
• Ensuring the right to a safe and healthy working environment in the textiles supply chain

On the occasion of the event, the SER hosted a cartoon exposition entitled “Through their eyes: Visions of forced labour”, an initiative of the ILO and Human Resources Without Borders, in partnership with Cartooning for Peace. The cartoonists used their pencils to raise awareness, inspire action, and emphasize the urgent need to eradicate forced labour.
