Ethiopia commits to promote the rights of persons with disabilities

ILO news (Addis Ababa): The Federation of Ethiopian National Associations of Persons with Disabilities (FENAPD) organized a national event to mark the Day of Persons with Disabilities at the National Theatre on the 3rd of December 2014. During the event, members of Disabled Persons’ Organizations showed different activities including drama, music, dance and poem reading, to highlight the participation of persons with disabilities in different development areas.

H.E Ato Kassa Tekleberhan, Speaker of the House of Federations, during his speech emphasized the commitment of the Ethiopian Government to promote the rights of persons with disabilities and their inclusion in the development process in Ethiopia.

As part of its Disability Programme to promote equality of opportunity and treatment for persons with disabilities in vocational rehabilitation, training and employment, the ILO has been supporting the Federation of Ethiopian National Associations of Persons with Disabilities(FENAPD) in its effort to address disability related issues.
