Empowerment of women in the workplace in Philippines
The ILO Bureau for Employers’ Activities (ACT/EMP) supports employers to promote the development of soft skills for women in the workplace

The Employers Confederation of the Philippines (ECOP) and Nestlé Philippines have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) in February 19. This agreement focuses on the development of soft skills for women in the workplace. The MOU was designed to train some 50 facilitators of ILO’s In-Business training modules who will in turn train other peers. In BUSINESS is an innovative programme designed by the International Labour Organization (ILO) to strengthen business management skills and networking among micro, small and medium-sized enterprises.
“Aside from forging a partnership between the ECOP and Nestlé Philippines, it also signifies that strengthening of our commitment to champion diversity through the empowerment of women.” Kais Marzouki, Chairman and CEO of Nestlé Philippines. “Together, we can create a culture where soft skills such as creativity, critical thinking and problem solving are deemed s crucial skills to increase both employability and productivity of workers” ECOP President Sergio Ortiz Luis expressed.
This modules have been tailored to address specific challenges that women may face at the workplace. The topics of the training includes aspects such as vision setting, creative thinking, problem solving, teamwork, negotiation and persuasion, interpersonal communication among others.
The training of 50 women will start in March. Target participants are Union Officers, Team Council Members, functional trainers and influencers
