Employers in Uzbekistan lead national campaign to promote safer and more innovative workplaces

TASHKENT, Uzbekistan (ILO News)– The Confederation of Employers of Uzbekistan (CEU), with the support of the International Labour Organization (ILO), successfully organized the largest occupational safety and health (OSH) event ever held in Uzbekistan. Marking Labour Protection Week 2025, the campaign brought together national and international partners for a week-long series of activities focused on promoting safer, healthier, and more innovative workplaces.
This landmark initiative was entirely led by employers, highlighting the central role of the business community in shaping a responsible and forward-looking OSH culture in Uzbekistan. With support from the ILO’s OSH Project in Uzbekistan (funded by the Government of Germany) and the Better Work Uzbekistan programme, the event underscored the importance of employer-driven leadership in improving workplace conditions.
Throughout the week, the CEU organized a diverse programme of activities including conferences, enterprise visits, technical seminars, training sessions, awareness events, and media engagement, reaching a wide audience of employers, workers, students, experts, and policy-makers across the country.
A key theme of the campaign was the growing relevance of digitalization and artificial intelligence (AI) in transforming labour protection. Discussions and field activities emphasized how emerging technologies can improve workplace safety, enhance risk prevention, and foster compliance, while also addressing psychosocial risks such as stress and burnout.

Labour Protection Week 2025 served as a strong platform for reinforcing employer commitment to safe and fair workplaces, and underlined the value of tripartite collaboration in addressing both persistent and emerging OSH challenges in Uzbekistan and beyond.
