Eastern Europe and Central Asia AIDS Conference.
On 3-5 May 2008 the second regional Eastern European and Central Asian AIDS Conference took place in Moscow. More than 1500 delegates from all CIS countries as well as from Eastern Europe, Central Asia and many other countries took part in the conference.

Political and civil society leaders, researchers and health professionals, people living with HIV and representatives of civil society from the region had an opportunity to interact and discuss the most urgent issues related to the HIV/AIDS epidemic. International labour organization’s delegation actively intervened with the advocacy of HIV/AIDS prevention through workplaces. The ILO actively participated in a Satellite session “HIV-Related Travel, Entry and Migration Restrictions in Eastern Europe, Central and South-East Asia” and presented ILO approaches and position towards the problem of migration and HIV. Findings of recent research studies on the problem of HIV/AIDS at workplace, conducted in Azerbaijan, Moldova, Russia and Ukraine were reflected at poster sessions over 3 days of the conference and attracted significant interest among the participants.
The presentation of the ILO modular course training “Your Health” (developed with the ILO support and addressing young people on HIV/AIDS, reproductive health and other issues) by the Federal Service on Consumer Rights Protection and Human Wellbeing of the Russian Federation became one of the most noticeable moments of the 1 day of the conference. The Course won the first price of the best material for young people in a 2007 Competition for the best publication for youth on the questions of health promotion, finalized for future dissemination and will be now distributed among educational institutions of vocational education in the framework of “Health” National Project.
“Your Health” Modular training course was developed by the ILO partners in Altai krai and Volgograd region, the Russian Federation, with the ILO expert and technical support . The Course includes a guideline for vocational school teachers on working with the module as well as on identifying and training peer educators among students, on motivating students to acquire healthy life styles and on promoting “health” as one of the basic values for a young person.
