Dissemination of findings of a joint United Nations study on social protection floor for India
The study examines the innovations, opportunities, challenges and trends in the area of social protection and recommends measures for achieving a social protection floor in India.

NEW DELHI (ILO NEWS): The United Nations Country Team in India is organizing an event to disseminate the findings of ‘A SOCIAL PROTECTION FLOOR FOR INDIA” on 18 April 2013 at 0930 a.m. at “Silver Oak” India Habitat Centre, Lodhi Road, New Delhi.
This study prepared with the financial support of the Government of Japan was commissioned by the ILO-led United Nations Task Team on Employment and Social Protection. The study examines the innovations, opportunities, challenges and trends in the area of social protection and recommends measures for achieving a social protection floor by progressively extending social protection to all workers in the informal economy, particularly those who are most disadvantaged.
Ms. Sudha Pillai, Former Member-Secretary of the Planning Commission and High-level UN Advisory Panel on Social Protection Floor will speak at the event.
The event will be structured around plenary speeches, technical presentation and a panel discussion in order to get feedback and comments on the findings of the study. A copy of the draft programme is attached for ready reference.
The event will bring together representatives of central and state government departments, workers’ and employers’ organizations, policy planners, academia and other stakeholders from across India.
