In October 2012, the ILO Decent Work Team and the Faculty of Economics, Chulalongkorn University, Thailand organized a workshop on “Social Protection: Assessment, Costing and Beyond”. For its preparation, a Good Practices Guide was developed and tested during the workshop. It deals with the tools and methodologies for assessment, design, costing and implementation of social protection and poverty alleviation programmes in a country and is based on real experiences. The Guide is being developed in an electronic format and as a printed version. It is expected to be published later this year and will serve as a source book for conducting the Assessment Based National Dialogue exercise for social protection assessment and for organising training sessions.
