Communicating Decent Work for the Domestic Work Sector

On 2nd – 4th December, the Domestic Workers Project conducted a training workshop with social partners to develop a communication strategy on domestic work. The workshop was a success, facilitated by ILO and UNICEF staff with participants comprising members of the Tripartite Plus Technical Working Group.

The overall goal of the strategy is to contribute to the realization of decent work for domestic workers in Zambia. The communication strategy objectives are:
  1. To advocate for improved legal provisions for promotion of decent work in the domestic work sector
  2. To advocate for a rights based approach in the treatment of domestic workers in Zambia
  3. To advocate for the development and adoption of a standardized employment contract for the domestic work sector
  4. To raise sustained awareness on the rights and obligations of domestic workers and employers
