Chamber leaders across Palestine trained to support enterprise sustainability and crisis preparedness

Ramallah, Palestine (ILO News) - The certified training on the SURE – Sustainable and Resilient Enterprise Programme has officially concluded, marking a significant milestone in strengthening the capacity of Palestinian business support institutions. Organized by the ILO as part of the Economic Recovery and Resilience Plan for Palestine and delivered by the International Training Centre of the International Labour Organization (ITCILO) the programme brought together around 25 participants from Regional Chambers of Commerce, Industry, and Agriculture across Palestine.

The SURE programme is designed to equip Employer and Business Membership Organizations (EBMOs) and business development service providers with the tools and knowledge requested to help enterprises anticipate, prepare for, and respond to disruptions. Over the course of the training, participants gained expertise in assessing business risks, developing continuity strategies, and implementing resilience-building measures. This initiative is particularly timely and critical, given the ongoing challenges faced by Palestinian enterprises, including those in the Gaza Strip.

With the completion of the training, the Federation of Palestinian Chambers of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture, along with the regional chambers, are now poised to roll out the programme individually or in pairs to at least 10 companies each in the coming months. These companies will benefit from a tailored combination of training and one-on-one coaching, enabling them to identify vulnerabilities, assess potential risks, and implement both preventive and remedial actions to enhance their operational resilience.

In addition to technical support, selected companies may also receive financial assistance to implement the improvements identified during the coaching process. This integrated approach aims to foster a more sustainable and resilient private sector in Palestine, ensuring that businesses are better prepared to withstand future shocks and contribute to long-term economic stability.
