Building a stronger future for employers in Trinidad and Tobago

11 December 2024

PORT OF SPAIN, TRINIDAD AND TOBAGO (ILO News) - The Employers Consultative Association of Trinidad and Tobago (ECATT) has embarked on a transformative journey to secure its place as a vital resource for employers in an evolving world. Recognizing the need to stay ahead of the curve, ECATT has redefined its mission, vision, and strategic direction, unveiling a comprehensive plan to guide its efforts for the next three years.

This transformation, supported by the International Labour Organization (ILO) through its Bureau for Employers' Activities (ACT/EMP) and the ITCILO, reflects ECATT’s commitment to modernizing its operations and ensuring it remains a trusted partner to employers. Following a thorough review process that involved input from members, staff, and analysis of global best practices, ECATT has positioned itself to tackle the challenges of today and seize the opportunities of tomorrow.

At the heart of this renewal is a new vision: to be the leading organization for employers in Trinidad and Tobago, renowned for its expertise in human resources, industrial relations, and advocacy. Its mission reinforces this commitment by focusing on fostering a better business environment through leadership, advocacy, and the delivery of top-tier services.

The strategic plan developed during this transformation focuses on four key priorities: strengthening relationships with members while attracting new ones, building a stronger and more visible ECATT brand, enhancing governance and transparency, and amplifying advocacy efforts to shape policies that support businesses locally and internationally.

These changes signify more than an organizational refresh. They represent ECATT’s determination to support its members with improved services, clearer governance, and a stronger voice in policy discussions. By modernizing its approach, ECATT is better equipped to represent employers’ interests and ensure their needs are addressed in an ever-changing global business landscape.

This process underscores ECATT’s dedication to being not just a support system for employers but also a leader ready to adapt to the future. With its renewed strategy and the backing of international partners like the ILO, ECATT is poised to deliver more value to its members and create lasting impact for employers in Trinidad and Tobago.
