Building Capacity for Somali Business Associations

Nairobi (ILO News) – The International Labour Organisation project on Women’s Economic Empowerment Project in Somalia, in collaboration with Centre for International Private Enterprise will build the capacity of associations through a training programme to elevate the association’s dialogue and facilitate economic growth, to be held from 18th to 28th January 2016 in Entebbe, Uganda.
The project is funded by UN Women with support from Swedish International Cooperation Agency. The training will focus on fundamentals of effective association management, governance and advocacy and will utilize the best practice for adult learning in these areas:

- Business Development Services: business plans, tax advisory, trade and export promotion, negotiations, marketing, financial management and financial planning and business operations for enterprises.
- Access to finance
- Membership development, with a focus on increasing dues payment and volunteerism
- Financial management
- Association communications and public relations
- Public policy advocacy and the role of business associations in creating an entrepreneurial eco-system.
