Beneficiaries of SADA Women Centre At Gaziantep Book Days

The beneficiaries of SADA Women Development and Solidarity Centre under the Project “Strengthening the Resilience of Syrian Women and Girls” being implemented UN Women with ILO and ASAM as implementing partners participated in Gaziantep Book Days

This year, 240 publishing houses participated in the 5th Gaziantep Book and Culture Days, the largest event of its kind in the region. Open on 17-26 May, the event was visited by 103 beneficiaries of SADA Women Centre including 82 Syrian, 4 Lebanese, 1 Afghan and 15 Turkish citizens from the courses of hair-dressing, Turkish A1 and A2 and computing.

Visiting the stands of publishing houses one after another, women asked about the content and prices of books to form an idea.




The book fair was also an opportunity to practise Turkish for the learners of Turkish course, and women were most interested in poetry books. Visiting beneficiaries also purchased test books and auxiliary books for their children.

Those women with younger children took interest in paint books and children’s books as well as educational game books. Visiting also the stands carrying books in Arabic, women expressed they were happy to visit the event for they found resources to develop themselves and children.
