Belarus to hold regular household employment survey in 2012

A household employment survey will become regular in Belarus beginning from 2012 and will be conducted every three months, the press officer of the National Statistics Committee (Belstat), Yelena Kondratenko, said on November 10.

In November Belstat carried out an experimental household employment survey to test sampling methodologies.

The similar surveys are applied all over the world to analyse the labor market and to get a full picture of the unemployment for taking optimal solutions on how to regulate the problem.

The sample survey is mainly targeted at studying the state of and dynamics of the labour market; at getting most objective consolidated statistics on economically active, inactive, employed and unemployed people in compliance with the standards of the International Labour Organization; at incorporating statistics on the reasons of unemployment, job search means and time, intentions and readiness for employment as well as on the structure of employed, unemployed and economically inactive population by sex, age, educational and professional characteristics.
