Taking part in the conference were 500 directors of enterprises and occupational safety engineers from Barnaul, and experts from the Tomsk, Irkutsk, Novosibirsk and Omsk regions, Moscow and Biysk.

Participants discussed the creation of healthy and safe working conditions.

The Altai territory for the third time hosted the inter-regional conference, as it has accumulated rich practical experience in the occupational safety and health management, an official of the territorial labour department said.

In many respects the creation of the regional occupational safety management system, the management by objectives in the improvement of working conditions and occupational safety and the upgrading of the OSH training system in the Altai territory contributed to this.

Organizations of the Altai territory check up working conditions to certify a workplace, develop corporative OSH management systems in compliance with their standards. They also create necessary conditions for further development of the market of certified personal protection equipment. There are several special centers that provide assistance to employers on different aspects of occupational safety and health in the Altai territory.

The territorial administration adopted the adjusted law on occupation safety and health and approved the program for the improvement of labour conditions in the Altai territory for 2007-2009.
